A firework is a device, originating in China,
for producing a display of coloured sparks
(and sometimes noises) by burning chemicals.
A firework consists of a container, usually
cylindrical in shape and of rolled paper,
enclosing a mixture capable of burning
independently of the oxygen in the air. One
of the ingredients holds a separate supply of
oxygen that is readily given up to the other
combustible ingredients. In Britain fireworks
are traditionally used on November the 5th.
